About TURBOTECH

T.J.Bell was incorporated in 1986 as the North American distributor for Erichsen Test Equipment from Germany. This specialized equipment is designed to test the physical properties of paints and coatings. Over time, we added other synergistic test equipment to enhance our offering to the markets served. Primary industries that we support include automotive, appliance, plastics, rubber, film, paper, electronic, glass, food, canning, sheet metal.

Our continued growth and expansion evolved into two complimentary divisions: Test Equipment for paints and coatings, featuring Erichsen Testing Equipment; and Turbotech air systems, featuring the Turbotech developed air-knife blow-off systems. We are now often in both ends of the same factory: installing an air knife to prepare or dry a product to accept a finish, and then testing the quality of the final finish. Our experience with vacuum and blower applications made this a natural and complimentary development.

Initially we acted as representatives for blower companies, and sold their air knives and blowers. We soon realized that although their product was adequate for some applications, they fell short in many applications due to size, and necessary accessories. Since blower manufacturers are primarily interested in selling their blowers, they are normally not well equipped to design or size an air knife system for a specific application. We saw a need in the marketplace for application specific and more complete systems than could be supplied by a blower manufacturer. Most blower manufacturers have neither the time nor the inclination to design mounting or supply other accessories to make a complete system. These same general limitations apply to their field sales representatives.

This is one of the definitive differences between blower companies and Turbotech application specific air knife systems for a diverse and demanding market. Sometimes a generic blow-off system works just fine, and we can provide it. We can also offer more complete and sophisticated solutions when needed. We provide complete turnkey air knife systems down to every nut and bolt for installation and a full range of logical accessories or any part of a system. By logical accessories we are referring to items like special filters, or heaters, or anti-static bars, or vacuum capture of the blow-off, as well a fully adjustable mounts, portable systems, central systems, even articulated systems complete with starters and controls.

The performance of all of our systems is guaranteed as well as all of the components of the system. We take an application engineering approach and look at every application as a unique challenge. Many times, applications are similar and can be quickly resolved. Based on our extensive experience, unique and difficult applications requiring study and experimentation are handled in a timely, professional manner. By taking this logical path we are sure to present the most complete and correctly sized system to solve your challange. This saves time and money compared to oversized or undersized solutions that may have to be re-engineered, or simply will never work.
